New Rochelle MS Student Facing Charges After Alleged Knife Incident

A teenage middle school student in New Rochelle was arrested by police last month following an alleged incident with a knife.

Police said that a 13-year-old Isaac E. Young Middle School student was arrested on charges of menacing and attempted assault following the incident on Jan. 30. The incident was first reported by lohud. The student was reportedly referred to Family Court.

"A student brandished a knife at Isaac E. Young Middle School on January 30," interim Schools Superintendent Magda Parvey said in a statement. "The knife was confiscated and no one was injured in the incident.”

The alleged incident comes approximately 13 months after several violent incidents at the New Rochelle High School involving students, including the fatal stabbing of 16-year-old Valeree Schwab on North Avenue.
